About Us
Four Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care is a non-profit organization, deeply committed to serving the community through fulfilling its mission of affirming life and providing holistic care in harmony with the goals of individuals with chronic, serious or life-limiting conditions while offering support to their families and loved ones.
Our Hospice was conceptualized in 1979 by Jean Moulthrop Hoogstra when hospice, as a segment of healthcare, was in its infancy. Our organization was incorporated in December 1979 as Hospice of Henderson County. We took care of our first patient in 1981. July 1988 marked a major step in the life of our organization as we became a Medicare and Medicaid certified hospice provider.
In April of 1999, through the kindness of many within our community, we opened the Elizabeth House, a 12-bed inpatient hospice facility. Click here for more details. In spring of 2006, expansion began on Elizabeth House to add an additional 6 beds for patient care.
In December of 2005, we consolidated seven locations that had been spread across Hendersonville into one location. The base of our operations, Greatrex Place, was built next door to Elizabeth House, through the generosity of our friends, families and donors.
As of present we have been serving the community of Henderson County for over 25 years. In that time we have served over 7000 patients. Our mission will not be complete until we are providing services to each and every person who has need of them.
