Volunteer Opportunities
What volunteer opportunities are available?
- Patient/family support in private homes: offer practical and emotional support, companionship, respite, perform supportive tasks such as errands, light housework, or transportation to appointments
- Patient/family support in nursing homes or assisted living facilities: provide companionship, read, engage in hobbies or activities, brighten someone’s day
- Patient/family support in Elizabeth House: socialize with patients/families, perform tasks such as assisting with meals, answering phones, stocking supplies
- Office Assistance: data entry, filing, assembling packets, mailings, medical records updates, donor acknowledgements
- Deliver Balloons to Patients: Brighten a day by delivering balloon bouquets to celebrate patients' birthdays.
- Faith Community Representative: ensures individual faith communities are informed about hospice and palliative care services
- Special Events/Fundraising Activities: assist with fund-raising from committee planning to event implementation (Tree of Lights, Pancake Breakfast, Silent Auction, Golf Tournament
- Deliver Lifelines quarterly publication to sites throughout the community
- Sew butterfly pillows, gowns, etc.: sew or crochet in your home or with a group you may organize
- Gardening: maintain the grounds at Elizabeth House
- Special service/complementary therapies: massage, reflexology, hair care, music/art, language translation
- Thrift Shop: assist with the operations of the Hospice Home Store - tasks may include customer service, sorting, displaying merchandise, accepting donations
